Default Battle of the Sword Pommels! (Swordsmanship Vs. Charrslaying)

Hey guys, I'd just like to get ur opinion of which of the following two Sword Pommels is generally more useful in the Prophecies campaign.

1. Sword Pommel of Swordsmanship: Swordsmanship +1 (11% chance while using skills)

2. Sword Pommel of Charrslaying: Damage +20% (vs. Charr)

Thanks.

they both suck. use #1 until you can pick up a fortitude or defense mod.

IMO both are pretty much useless, charrslaying is good for the first 15% of prophecies but after that it does nothing, and the early prophecies game is easy anyway. Swordsmanship +1 11% does practically nothing as well, it gives you a 11% chance to increase damage by 1 or 2 on attack skills. That ends up being an average increase of like .15 damage on SKILLS only. +Armor or Health is almost always going to be a better choice.

Might want to save the charrslaying pommel if you are going to do the titan quests or EotN, charr reappear in those.

I would say charrslaying. 1st of all, swordsmanship isn't max, and the attribute + 1 doesn't affect much on damage tho.
For prophecies, charrslaying would have its value coz the first part of the story is all about charr, isn't it?

Alright, ty people. Also, can someone tell me if "barbed" sword hilt is good? It increases bleeding time by 33%. However, I noticed that with 6 swordsmanship, my Severe Artery's bleeding time is already 13 seconds. It seems to me that the enemy always die before the bleeding even ends. So is barbed sword hilt good or worthless?

Also, how much more damage would a +1 swordsmanship do? Anyone know the formula for that?

If your enemies are dieing before the bleeding runs out, you answered your own question didn't you? It wouldn't hurt to add it though, in case you didn't know after you put a hilt on it you can put another hilt on it and it will overwrite the first. So if you have nothing better at the moment go for it. +1 swordsmanship just does the difference between your current swordsmanship damage and the next level, times the percent chance. In most cases a perfect 20% swordsmanship works out to be 1 to 2 damage extra * 20% chance of triggering = .2 to .4 extra damage per attack skill on average. Since your pommel is only 11% its even less then that.

I would say not to add the bleeding mod, because usually you'll just get the adrenaline to use sever artery back before it runs out on the enemy.

The charr mod is excelent when your fighting charr basically up untill Yaks bend. From that point on +1 mod will be better, though its one of the weakest of all sword mods.

To know the dmg increase just set your swordsmanship to 11, look at your sword skills then set it to 12 and look at the same skills. Thats what your gaining if and only if you are lucky enough to get the +1, its only a 20%chance with a perfect mod.

Find any armor mod or HP mod you can, they are far better.

If you're still early on, throw on the Charrslaying and then just replace it (over-write) with a better mod later on when you stop fighting Charr.

your best bet for a sword would be a vampiric hilt and a fortitude or defense mod.

The point of any weapon mod is to output the highest amount of damage. Defense and/or fort are good too. Sounds like you are a pve player, so you won't need to worry much about blockway, etc.

Also, don't forget a 15^50% mod.

Swords like that are pretty easy to get. I'm glad, however, that you're thinking critically about barbed hilts. Pretty much the only reason to run a +condi duration weapon is when condi time really matters. For example, using a YAA sword warrior, a crippling sword would be appropriate. In other cases, the condition is usually off before full duration or *in pve mostly* your target is dead. If you're having to rely on condi pressure to kill stuff in pve, you're probably doing something wrong.

That said, mandragor condi-pressure is pretty rediculous (digression)
